February 2018
I apologize for my lack of updating our website during 2017, but most of the members know that 2017 was not a very good year for my family and I. I will do my very best to update the website regularly in 2018. I have uploaded a copy of the newly revised Bylaws, so check them out. February’s meeting is about Bankruptcy Law. Hope to see you there. Also, please note that the deadline for scholarship applications is February 26, 2018.
JANUARY 2017
I hope everyone had a great holiday season and wishing you all the best in 2017. My goal for this year is to try to stay on top of the website. I apologize for not keeping it up last year, but most of you know that I had a lot going on and major changes to adjust to. Nominations are coming up, so please consider who you want to serve on the Board of this great organization and also please consider accepting a nomination if you are contacted. Remember the more you put into an organization, the more you get out of it.

Thank you to all of you for giving of your time to devote to this organization. Glad to see some new members on the Board. Always good to get new insight and ideas from new members.
Congratulations to our scholarship recipient, Gianna Mason. It was a pleasure meeting her and her parents at our March general membership meeting. She is destined for great things.
I would also like to take this opportunity to say thank you for Jackson County Legal News for their continued support of our organization. It is greatly appreciated.
CONGRATULATIONS TO MARION STONE on her upcoming retirement. We all wish you the best in this new stage in your life. You have worked hard and you deserve to take it easy. Although most retirees wonder how they ever worked because they are so busy. You will be greatly missed, but hopefully you can tear yourself away from relaxation to come join us at our monthly meeting. ENJOY!!!!
January 2016
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
As we start anew, we need to evaluate what we can do for our organization. Have you considered being on the Board or chairing a committee? If not, please give it some thought. Remember the more you give to your organization, the more you get out it.
Nominations are due early this year. The Nomination Form was included with the December Scribae. Please give it serious thought as to who you would like to serve on the Board for NALS of Jackson County. Please send your Nomination Forms to me at mjskojec@hotmail.com or mjskojec@bestlawpractice.com.
Wishing you and yours a happy and healthy 2016. Let us make this the best year ever.
May 2015
Congratulations to our new Board of Directors and a special welcome to new Board Member, Cierra Sowle.
The 2015-2016 year will be an exciting one for NALS of Jackson County. We are gaining new members and that is always a good thing. New members bring new insight and life to the organization.
Remember you get out of an organization what you put into it. The more time you invest in something the more it means to you. Keep in mind there are still committees which need to be filled.
I hope everyone is enjoying spring and I wish you a safe and fun-filled summer. If you have any ideas for the website, please e-mail me at mjskojec@hotmail.com.
January 2015
The holidays are behind us and I hope that everyone had a wonderful time with their families. As we begin 2015, we need to evaluate what we can do for our organization. We are about to make nominations for the Board, so please take this process seriously whether it is in nominating others for the positions or whether you are the one being nominated. Remember, the more you give to your organization, the more you get out of it. Also, please consider topics of interest for speakers. The Board would love to get suggestions for speakers as this is OUR organization. Please pass along any areas of interest you may have. Wishing you and yours the best in 2015!!
May 2014
Several members attended the annual meeting on Mackinaw Island. Unfortunately, the weather didn’t cooperate for them, but sounds like it was a lot of fun and very informative too. I am very happy to report that NALS of Jackson County was the 3rd Place Winner in the NALS of Michigan Membership Drive for 2013-2014. CONGRATULATIONS NALS OF JACKSON COUNTY. Way to go!! Thanks Jennifer for all your hard work. Certificate
Looks like Spring (maybe Summer) has finally arrived. With the new season, NALS of Jackson County starts anew. The following are the Board members for 2014-2015:
President – Marion R. Stone, PP, PLS
Vice President – Jennifer G. Meade, CER
Treasurer –LeeAnna R. Kloack, PLS
Recording Secretary – Mary Jo Skojec

There was a good turn out for Law Day. Kudos go out to Pam Maynard and Christine Kloack for a job well done.
Please contact Marion if you are interested in being a chairperson or co-chairperson for a committee. Many hands make light work. Remember the more time and effort put into an organization, the more you get out of it.
Looking forward to seeing you at the meeting this month.
Please keep Pam Maynard in your thoughts and prayers as she fights the battle of her life. Also, please keep Mary Sue Thome and her family in your thoughts and prayers because her brother just recently passed away. We are all here for you. Reach out for support from your sisters-in-law.
CONGRATULATIONS to Nancy and Bob Sunday on their 60th wedding anniversary.
February 2014
I don’t know about you, but I am sick and tired of all this cold and snow. I am ready for SPRING. Despite the weather, NALS of Jackson County has been very busy. We had a successful exhibitor’s luncheon in December. Our January meeting was held in conjunction with the Jackson County Bar Association. Hopefully, we can do that more often. It was nice to meet some of the newer attorneys. February’s meeting will be on Human Trafficking.
Nominations have been made and accepted. However, it is still not too late to consider being a part of the Board. If you are interested or know someone that is, please come to the March meeting because nominations can be made from the floor that night. Remember, the more you give to an organization, the more you get out of it.
Congratulations to Cierra Howard on her new position. You will be missed at our monthly noon meetings, but hopefully you will be able to join us for the evening meetings. Best of luck in your new position. You will do great.
